My DIY: Ankara Peplum Suit + Newlook 6231 Pattern Review...

Happy Friday & Cheers to the Weekend Lovelies!

Ankara Peplum Suit (I made)
ASOS Perspex Waist Belt (HERE)
Christian Louboutin "Pigalle" Pumps
MAC "Riri Woo" Lipstick
I hope you had a lovely week! Today's post features another DIY outfit I made a couple of weeks ago. The pants were very easy to make but the jacket was a bit complicated but not too bad. I kept the styling pretty simply by adding a black cami underneath and a belt to clinch my waist. I completed the outfit with a bold red lips and my black louboutins, Check out the review of the sewing pattern  that I used for this look below...:)
Pattern Review: Newlook 6231
Pattern Description: Misses' skirts, pants and peplum jackets. Pants have side zipper and jackets have pleated or gathered peplum with hook and eye closure.
Pattern Sizing: I think the sizing is a bit off. I cut a size 12 based on my measurement in both the pants and jacket but the jacket was very big at first especially at the sides and shoulders. I had to take in a couple of inches before I was satisfied with the fit. The pants on the other hand fits like a glove, it is kinda high waisted for me since I am petite but I love it regardless.
Fabric Used: Ankara Wax 100% Cotton Fabric.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, I personally think Newlook patterns' are fairly easy to understand.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the various options for the jacket i.e collar or no collar and pleated peplum or gathered peplum.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Nothing really except for the way I cut my fabric, I cut it in such a way that I added some contrast with the fabric for the collar and peplum of the jacket.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes definitely, I would make the pants and maybe the jacket with another for of peplum.

Thank you so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
