Hello Beautiful People!
Floral Print Fitted Dress (I made)
Shoemint "Mia" Sandals (old)
Lime Crime "Utopia" Lipstick
How are you all doing? I hope you all are having a nice week. Today, I am sharing my latest DIY piece which is this beautiful floral printed dress that is so perfect for Spring. The reason why I started sewing is honestly to make more ankara pieces because I got tired of paying so much to have them made and still not loving the finished result. I love making my ankara pieces but I have started gravitating towards making ready to wear pieces that are not made with ankara fabrics. I just love the fact that I can visualize a clothing piece, pick a fabric of my choice and hand make something so unique that you can never find in retail stores, it's like the best feeling in the world. Anyways this dress is this first of many non-ankara pieces that I plan on making. I really like the overall outcome of the dress and I wore it church this past Sunday. I paired it with an old but goodie favorite pair of sandals in a gorgeous redish-orange color. What do you guys think of the dress? For those that sew, I have a pattern review below...:)
Pattern Review: Vogue 8825
Pattern Description: Pullover tunic or dress has front extending into back collar, fitted, front pleated bodice, raised waist, tie ends, two-piece sleeves with barrel cuffs, and stitched hem.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 8-16, but I cut a size 10 due to the stretchy fabric used and it fits perfectly.
Did it look like the photo on the pattern envelope once you are done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were somewhat easy to follow until you get to #9, which is the attachment of the front and back to the collar/facing. I didn't really get it so I just did it using my own way and it turned out great.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the overall style of the dress from the length, to its pleated detail and the belt as well.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? Nothing really, I just serged the seams instead of the double stitching as per the instructions.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and Yes! I plan on making it in solid colored fabrics. I would recommend it if you like a nicely fitted and classy dress.
Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your week!
