How are you all doing? I hope you are having a great week so far. Today's post features a simple shift dress I made a couple of weeks ago. I was inspired by my sewsister, Yetunde of Sew Urbane's mixed print shift dress using the same vogue pattern. We both used Vlisco fabrics to create the dresses. One thing I love about Vlisco's fabrics is that they make their fabrics in 2,4,6 yards variation so it's easy to mix and match fabrics. I wore this dress to a friend's birthday dinner and everyone loved it. I kept the styling simple by pairing it with neutral accessories. I really liked the way the dress turned out and I am definitely going to make it in a colorblock mix and another mixed prints. For those that sew, i have a pattern review below...:)
Pattern Review: Vogue 8805
Pattern Description: Pullover shift dress (semi-fitted through bust) has back neck slit, hook/eye closing and narrow hem.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size (8-14) with different cup sizes. I cut a size 14 with a D cup size and it fits kinda tight in the hip area.
Fabric Used: 2 different Vlisco 100% Wax Cotton Fabric.
Did it look like the photo on the pattern envelope once you are done sewing with it? Yes but in prints.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, super easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love everything about this pattern. It's super easy and fast to make plus it allows for mixing of color and prints.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? I increased the length by 3 inches.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and Yes!!!
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed day!
