How are you all doing? Hope you had a wonderful week. Since I have some free time now, I decided to start posting twice a week while I am on break from school. Today's post features the DIY blouse I made and wore in my last post HERE but I am styling it differently in this blog post. I simply paired the blouse with an olive colored faux leather skirt and completed the look with bold red lips and pumps. This outfit would be perfect for an office holiday party with the pops of red I added to it with my lips and pumps. For those that sew, I also have a pattern review for the blouse below..:)
Pattern Review: Simplicity 8216
Pattern Description: Pattern features bow blouse or mini dress with elastic waist, tank top with pocket and stand collar, and mini dress with flutter sleeves.
Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 16 but I should have cut a size 14 since it's pretty big. Also for some reason the neck opening is pretty small, it's kind of a struggle to put it on and off. The sleeves are also short on me and I am petite with no long arms, so definitely take that into consideration with this pattern.
Fabric Used: Charmeuse Satin Fabric (similar HERE)
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, it's kinda easy
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really love the style of the blouse but the construction of it was not the easiest. I dislike that the pattern had some mistakes that made it harder to make e.g the back and front facing were not the same length, so I had to trim about 5/8in of the back facing so it can match the front facing.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? None!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I doubt I will sew it again, I still have patterns similar to this in my stash that I wanna try to make. But I will definitely recommend of you want a bow tie blouse.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
