How are you all doing? I have been doing great, currently enjoying my IPPE rotations at a community pharmacy and sewing during my free time as well. Today's post features a simple dress that I made in a bold floral print fabric. I love dress styles like this because they are so versatile and can be styled in different ways. Plus I can wear in spring, summer and fall based on how I style it. For this look that I wore to church a couple of weeks ago, I paired the dress with a light pink vest and a pair of lucite sandals. Be on the look out for a special mother's day post this Sunday, I am making a dress for my mum for the first time ever. I am kinda nervous, but we picked the fabric together so hopeful it turns out great and she loves it. Wish me luck!
P.S. For those that sew, I have a pattern review for this dress below...:)
Pattern Review: McCalls 7531
Pattern Description: Very close-fitting pullover dresses have neckline, sleeve and length variation with back slit opening.
Pattern Sizing: I cut a size large because I didn't want it to be too tight.
Fabric Used: Spring Sheen Scuba Knit from Joann's HERE
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, super easy. I didn't follow it since it was a simple dress that I could make without looking at the instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Love the simple/basic design. Dress like this are staples in my closet, I can style it different ways and wear it in different seasons as well.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? Only change I made was to chop off 4 inches from the length, it would have been too long for my 5ft 3in frame.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes & Yes, I am actually using it as a base for making a dress for my mum as her mother's day present.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed day!
