My DIY: White Cold Shoulder Shirt Dress + Simplicity 8341 Pattern Review

Happy Thursday Lovelies!
White Cold Shoulder Shirt Dress (I made)
Fabric: Calico Cotton from Joann's
Pattern: Simplicity 8341 Shirt Dress
H&M Gold Chunky Heel Pumps (old)
MAC "Recollection" Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor (HERE)
How are you all doing? I know I have been a little MIA but I officially started my second (P2) year of pharmacy school so I have been getting settled into school mood. Anyways, I wanted to stop by and share this fun dress I made a couple weeks ago. As soon as this Mimi G. pattern was released last Spring, I knew I had to make it. I love the cold shoulder with ruffles details, I think it's such a perfect dress to wear in the summer. I made it with a white and gold palm print fabric. I wore it to church by styling it with a pair of gold pumps. I am back to posting just once a week now that school has started and with my hectic schedule this semester, please bear with me if I don't get that chance to post. I do have a lot more DIY posts to share so definitely stay tuned.
P.S: For those that sew, I have a pattern review below...:)
Pattern Review: Simplicity 8341
Pattern Description: The button-down top and dress have a collar and feature cold shoulder with ruffle on the sleeve and across the bodice.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 6-14 and I cut a size 14
Fabric Used: White and Gold Palm Print Calico Fabric from Joann's, more HERE
Were the instructions easy to follow? They looked easy when I glanced through it but I didn't use it. I used THIS video tutorial that Mimi G. made for the pattern
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the ruffles with the shoulder cut-outs and the fact that it's also a shirt dress makes the dress even more cool. Plus there are more options that came with the pattern.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? I didn't make any changes except placing the buttons/ buttonholes where I wanted them instead of using the pattern guide
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes & Yes! I would definitely recommend it, but keep in mind that this is not a fast project. It took me the whole weekend to complete mine but I absolutely love how it turned out. I plan on making the shirt version when I get the chance.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!

  1. I love it on you (and I don't even love the cold shoulder look)! The shoes are perfect with it, too!
