How are you all doing? I am doing great. Today's post features the only RTW (Ready-to-Wear/Store bought) dress I got in 2017. Ever since I started sewing, I rarely buy dresses because I love and enjoy making my own dresses. Finding the perfect sweater knit fabric for sweater dresses can be a bit challenging so I usually don't make dresses in the winter months. As soon as I saw this sweater rib knit dress from the Gabrielle Union Collection, I knew it was a must-have.
Even though it was a bit pricey, I was able to snag it for 50% off. Once it arrived in the mail, I was even more surprised by the quality of the fabric. It's the yummiest mid-weight rib knit fabric and absolutely perfect for the colder weather. The fit made me love it even more, I intentionally ordered a size L (my old size) but I could have gone with a medium I just did not want it to be too tight.
Since getting the dress, I have worn it several times including for Thanksgiving dinner last year and then to a graduation party in December. For this look, I cinched my waist with an old wide black leather belt from ASOS and a pair of black leather pumps from Zara.
Like any RTW dress, it's not customized to fit me perfectly like a dress that I handmade would, I find the sleeves to be too long for my short arms. But nothing a few folds on the sleeves hem cannot fix.
I wish I could find a perfect rib knit fabric like this one, I definitely would make more sweater knit dresses. Until I find some nice sweater or rib knit fabric, I guess I would enjoy rocking this dress as much I can. It's definitely one of my favorite RTW dresses in my closet.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a wonderful week!
